JMS on US occupation of Afghanistan

On the occasion of US imperialism’s failed 20-year occupation of Afghanistan, which ended ignominiously on 31 August 2021, Jose Maria issued this article, “US Occupation of Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021.” Prof. Sison is chairperson emeritus of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle.

Dear Comrades and Friends,

By the time that Lenin wrote Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism in 1916, he had already made major contributions to the development of Marxism in the fields of philosophy, political economy and social science.

I wish therefore to present first how Lenin’s theory on modern imperialism is related to and interconnected with his previous and prospective works that would together comprise his entire revolutionary legacy. Then, I proceed to focus on this theory, its implications and consequences in the socialist revolution in Russia and in the entire world in the time of Lenin. Thereafter, I discuss the implications and consequences on a world scale since the time of Lenin.

ILPS reiterates Venezuelan solidarity, congratulates Chavistas on electoral win

The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) reiterated its solidarity with “the government and people of Venezuela in their heroic struggle for national independence and socialism against US imperialism and its lackeys” within the country.

In the statement, ILPS chairperson Professor Jose Maria Sison reviewed the successes of “the Bolivarian revolutionary struggle” in Venezuela under the leadership of its late president, Hugo Chavez. “The people of Venezuela are loyal to and love Comrade Hugo Chavez because he led them to assert national independence and to aim for socialism,” Sison said. Revolutionaries, activists raise clenched fists together in Amsterdam conference on the October Revolution

AMSTERDAM, 24 September—Senior and veteran revolutionaries, socialist advocates and progressive political leaders, many of them with white or thinning hair, raised their clenched fists once more—this time with young social and cultural activists and trade unionists. Young and old together marked the October Revolution of 1917 with a People’s Conference that affirmed its relevance to the continuing struggle for revolutionary change in the 21st century. Read more

The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) held its conference on October 22 entitled “Right to Resist, Right to Exist: Unite to Fight Police Terror, State Repression, and Racism.” The decades-long cumulative results of neoliberalism and the crisis of monopoly capitalism provides a sweeping background of the current spate of state repression and police brutality in the US, and the basis for a broad united front vs. US imperialism. On the Implications and Consequences of Brexit

“The stunning 52-48 vote in favor of Brexit … is mainly based on the widespread nationwide sentiment that the stagnation, unemployment and austerity measures have been generated by the EU’s persistent push for neoliberal policies and its overprivileged bureaucracy.
